
Gian Ponte (Brazil) obtained his Master’s degree Piano magna cum laude in 2013 at the Brussels Royal Conservatory in the class of Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden and Eliane Reyes. He received his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Rio de Janeiro under professor Luiz Senise. Currently, Ponte studies in the Advanced Master program in Contemporary Music organised by the School of Arts in Ghent and conducted by the ensembles Ictus and Spectra.
He was awarded the first prize at the 24th Claudio Arrau International Piano Competition in Chile, and he has won prizes at several competitions in Brazil
and Europe such as the 15th Arnaldo Estrella Piano Competition, the prize Besty Diongre at the Brussels Conservatory, the special prize for outstanding artistic performance in the 19th Radolfzell Academy in Germany, the 2nd Viennese school prize in Vienna during the festival ISA 14.
Ponte has performed at several music festivals and academies as a soloist and in chamber music with a repertoire from every age. He played at the Festival de Campos do Jordão (Brazil), the Encuentro de Jóvenes Talentos (Chile), the Weimar Master Classes, the Piano Academy Freiburg (Germany), The International Holland Music Sessions (the Netherlands), the Rencontres Musicales d’Enghien, Festival Musiq’3 (Belgium) and the Académie Musicale de Villecroze (France).
To improve his skills, Ponte has received advice from leading musicians such as Boris Berman, Anne Queffélec, François-Frédéric Guy, Claire Désert, Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Heidrun Holtmann and Florian Müller .
