Once upon a time—or rather, at some point in an undetermined future—a human being has, through evolution, lost all five senses. This concert follows their story through five scenes, tracing their search to recover what has been lost. Each sense represents more than a physical faculty: it is also a way of making meaning, of engaging with the world, and of understanding it.
Structured in five sonic and olfactory chapters, this concert explores the relationship between music and fragrance. The project grew out of a collaboration between composer Apolline Jesupret and Namur-based perfumer Romain Pantoustier. Together with Ensemble Fractales, composers Daï Fujikura and Oren Boneh, and scenographer Thomas Delord, they create an experience centered on the evocative power of scent and sound.
Synesthesia is a neurological phenomenon in which unusual neural connections cause different senses to overlap, most commonly hearing and vision.
This performance offers an immersive encounter between sound and smell, inviting audiences to experience the dialogue between these two sensory worlds.
